Fire department strengthens safety arrangements ahead of Lairai Jatra

Authorities have stepped up safety preparations ahead of the upcoming Shri Devi Lairai Jatra in Shirgao, with the Fire Department planning additional deployments to manage large crowds and fire-related risks. Following an on-site inspection, officials decided to station three fire tenders at strategic locations in and around the temple area to ensure rapid emergency response. Fire Officer Rahul Desai stated that one fire tender would remain stationed at the Lairai temple premises, another at Homkhan where devotees traditionally walk barefoot across burning embers, and a third near the lake where pilgrims gather for ritual bathing. Last year, two fire tenders were deployed during the festival, but authorities have increased the number this year to further strengthen preparedness and public safety.
