PANJIM: The Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services on Thursday held an overall operational fitness test of the fire personnel, to check for prompt response in the event of any emergency.
The 33rd annual drill competition was conducted for all the fire stations across the State at Fire Training Ground, St Inez.
The fire personnel were tested for squad drill, ladder drill, pump drill and tug of war. Fire Force Headquarters was declared first in the squad drill category followed by Panjm and Mapusa fire Stations (FS) claiming 2nd and 3rd spots respectively.
The Fire Force Headquarters also emerged winners in the ladder drill category followed by Mapusa FS and Panjim FS coming second and third respectively, whereas the Mapusa FS won the tug of war. The Old Goa FS won the pump drill category followed by Ponda FS and Verna FS claiming second and third spots respectively.
