Fish vendors from Bicholim shifted to Sanquelim market

BICHOLIM: Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit has shifted the fish vendors from Karapur Tisk to Sanquelim market since Wednesday evening.
Sanquelim Shopkeepers Association have thus expressed satisfaction over the issue and appreciated the mamlatdar for taking the step.
Since last one and half year, many fish vendors from Sanquelim market used to sit at Karapur-Tisk roadside to sell their fish. This led to traffic congestion as the people were parking their vehicles in a haphazard manner, when they came to buy fish. Besides, the place was becoming unhygienic due to disposal of stale fish and waste water.
This situation had prompted Shivanand Bakre, a businessman from Vithalapur area, to file a complaint before the mamlatdar requesting him to stop the illegal sale of fish. Later, Karapur-Sarvan panchayat authorities had also referred this matter to the mamlatdar.
Following the complaints, the Mamlatdar issued direction to the police traffic cell to action against the fish vendors in case they are causing congestion and unhygienic condition at this place.
However, on Wednesday evening Pandit shifted them to Sanquelim market yard.
