PONDA: Fish vendors, who have conducting business in open spaces at Ponda since lockdown, will finally, be able to carry out their business in the basement of Ponda market complex from Monday.
PMC Chairperson Venktesh Naik said, “Following complaints from the vendors of difficulties in conducting business in the rains, the vendors will be provided shelter in the basement of the Ponda market complex.”
He said, “Adequate provision of light and other facility has been made in the basement of Ponda Market Complex. The 50 per cent space in the basement has been marked for fish vendors while the remaining area will be for parking of vehicles.
The chairperson further informed that the PMC recently week ago had directed the all the fish vendors to sell their fish at one common space behind market approach road, but due to rains it was not possible.
He said, “Since it is not possible for them to conduct their business in the regular market shed owing to COVID lockdown, we have decided to repair and renovate the shed. The repair work has already commenced and the floor tiles have been removed.”
