PANJIM: The Principal District and Sessions Court, Panjim on Friday granted bail to five accused, all from Bihar arrested for allegedly murdering and AC technician at Anjuna in January this year.
The Court ordered that the five be released on bail of Rs 50,000 with each one furnishing surety in like amount. The accused have been asked not to tamper with evidence or influence witnesses. They are directed to remain present in the Court and before the police as and when directed.
On January 11, 2023, the Anjuna police had arrested the five accused namely Deepak Paswan, Roshan Paswan, Dishkant Paswan, Kishan Paswan and Sumit Kumar Shah, all natives of Bhithsari, Begusarai, Bihar for allegedly assaulting Wasim Sheikh, an AC technician and his friend Sohail Salim Shaikh, both from Mumbai. Wasim Sheikh succumbed to his injuries in the hospital next day.
The accused were working at a construction site at Assagao and they assaulted the duo under the influence of alcohol. The police had arrested them while they were trying to flee the State.
Adv Sahil Sardesai argued on behalf of the accused while, public prosecutor Adv Anuradha Talaulikar represented the State.
