MAPUSA: Mapusa police have arrested five persons for creating ruckus in public place at D’Mello Vaddo, Canca.
The incident occurred at 11.12 pm when the accused persons identified as Taj Mohammad Shaikh (50), Faizal Shaikh (29), Heena Shaikh (28), Neeta Vasanat Naik (26) with their unknown associates , accused Zahid Shaikh (33), Faizan Shiakh (28) and Amin Shaikh (46) all residents of D’Mello Vaddo, Canca, over property dispute. They gathered in an open public place and formed an unlawful assembly carrying weapons and in furtherance to their common object abused each other with filthy words. They also assaulted each other with wooden clubs, a knife, slaps, and kicks causing bodily injuries to each other.
They tore clothes, threatened each other with dire consequences to kill, damaged vehicles, and damaged personal articles and residential premises of each other causing loss to each other. They are also accused of pelting glass bottles at each other thereby endangering the life of police staff and public, wrongfully restrained the commuters using Public road thereby affected the peace and tranquillity in the locality over property dispute.
The accused also deterred the Police staff from performing the lawful duties. Mapusa Police have registered an offence U/Sec. 160, 143, 147, 148, 341 , 504, 323, 324, 427, 506 (ii) ,336 353 R/w 149 IPC. SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi informed that , during the course of investigation accused Taj Mohammad Shaikh, Faizal Shaikh, Zahid Shaikh, Faizan Shiakh and Amin Shaikh from both the groups were arrested on June 8. All the accused were produced before the JMFC court and remanded to one day Police custody. Women involved in crime are served with Notices U/S 41 CrPc.
Timely intervention by Mapusa Police helped in bringing the situation under control and prevented serious untoward incident in the locality of and maintained the peace and harmony in the village, reports said.
