PANJIM: Five companies including the Central government’s Airports Authority of India have been shortlisted for the Greenfield International Airport at Mopa, after a meeting of the Mopa committee, examined the technical bids for the project, on Monday.
The five firms include AAI, GVK Mumbai, GMR Airport, Essel Infra Mumbai and Voluptas Developers. Total 12 companies had shown interest for the construction of the airport.
A senior official confirmed that five companies have been shortlisted during the technical bids. Total 12 had shown interest through release of Request for Qualification (RFQ) document, however, only five
had bid.
On October 3, 2014, the government issued a global request for qualification (RFQ) for the development of Mopa airport on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis. The airport will be built on public-private-partnership (PPP) model. The deadline for applying for RFQ was extended thrice, since then.
The official said that the process for drafting Request for Proposal (RFP) would be initiated next month, after which the financial bids would be opened. “By July end, the bidder for construction of airport would be finalized,” official said.
According to the RFQ document, the airport will be developed in four phases. Phase I is to be completed by 2020 and will cater to 4.4 million passengers; phase II should be ready by 2025 and cater to 5.8 million passengers.
