Flower vendors invading underpass at Tar-Bastora

MAPUSA: Flower vendors and beggars have already invaded the underpass along the NH-17 at Tar-Bastora, which was inaugurated just three months ago.
During the Diwali festival, two vendors were spotted selling flowers along the footpath at this underpass — adding to the traffic chaos with several passersby halting to buy flowers. Few beggars are also seen sitting along that footpath causing inconvenience to those walking across.
Andrew D’souza a local from Bastora, on Tuesday complained to the traffic cell at Mapusa and within two hours the vendors were removed from the spot.
“The vendors do not seem to leave a single prominent spot in Mapusa and encroach most of the areas. The vendors selling flowers at this underpass are a nuisance as they are creating traffic congestion. As soon as I complained, the Mapusa traffic police swiftly cleared the flower vendors selling along the footpath at this underpass,” Andrew said.
