MARGAO, OCT 20
The flying squad constituted by the election authorities continued its drive against illegal election banners for the second day on Wednesday.
If the authorities had removed around 61 banners put up at public places on Tuesday, another 43 were removed on Wednesday.
Returning Officer, Johnson Fernandes informed that the drive against illegal display of banners would be intensified as part of the drive against the banner.
He pointed out that his office has permitted the contesting candidates to put up two banners so as to make awareness in the respective wards. This concession has been granted to the candidates even though no banners can be put up at public places under the Goa Defacement of Property Act.
