Fomento for mechanism to cart away Sonsodo rejects

Fomento on Monday emphasised on the need for the Margao Municipal Council to put in place a mechanism to cart away rejects from the Sonsodo dumping site.
Fomento senior representatives Sridhar Kamat and Prabhakar Timble had an interaction with the Margao city fathers in the municipal hall this evening wherein they tried to reply to a host of queries raised by the elected representatives.
During the interaction, the Fomento officials maintained that the existing dump yard needs to be cleared of the thousands of tons of existing waste. In this respect, the officials said that the Trommel set up by the company at Sonsodo will be soon put in operation and underlined the need for the civic body to put in place a mechanism to cart away the rejects from the site.
Incidentally, the civic body is yet to identify a suitable land for the disposal of the rejects generated at Sonsodo out of the screening of existing waste at the dump yard.
Meanwhile, Fomento officials told the Margao city fathers that a presentation will be held in the council on the waste treatment plant proposed to be set up at Sonsodo.
City fathers have been insisting that the municipal chairperson also invite the consultant as well as the legal counsel during the presentation to reply to all queries, especially to allay apprehensions on the contentious issue of Net Present Value (NPV) concept.
