For 3 years 282 Paliem farmers have seen saline water seep into their fields

PERNEM: For last three years, farmers from Paliem village of Pernem were requesting the concerned authorities to solve their problem of sea water entering into the agriculture fields at Paliem and further damaging the cultivable agriculture land.

The farmers have repeatedly approached the concern WRD and agricultural department as well as local MLA. However their issue had remained unresolved.

Farmers said that entering of saline water into their agriculture fields is killing their cultivable land and if this problem is not solved on priority, then they will not be able to cultivate for coming season as well as for the next five years.

“Government has constructed sluice gate spending almost Rs 40 lakh and every now and then particular department maintains it however the existence of sluice gate is of no benefit since the sea water continues to enter into their fields through the sluice gate,” said farmer Tilve.
