SANGUEM: Leaving aside the services provided by the BSNL, most of the remote villages in Goa do not get the desired the telephone services.
However with the installation of a mobile tower at Wadem Colony No I in Sanguem and other 50 towers all over the State, the mobile and interconnectivity problems faced by the people living in remote areas will be solved to a great extent, informed South Goa MP Adv Narendra Savoikar.
He was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a mobile tower by BSNL at Wadem Colony No I in Sanguem.
Further, Savoikar informed that though the services provided by the BSNL in recent times are much poor as compared to the services provided by the BSNL in earlier times, the installation of 40 new towers all around the State will improve the mobile and the internet connectivity provided by the BSNL to a large extent.
Savoikar informed that the government has given sanction for the installation of 1500 new towers for the BSNL in Arunachal Pradesh while in Goa it has got sanction for the installation of 50 towers.
While BSNL was earlier facing severe financial crunch, the financial position of the government run BSNL has increased greatly over the recent years. There were times when BSNL faced extreme financial difficulties even to get new cables. “However, the scenario is now changed and the BSNL is on the way to provide improvised services to the customers in the remote areas where the private companies have literally stayed away from providing the desired connectivity service to the locals,” Savoikar added.
Rajya Sabha Member Vinay Tendulkar assured the villagers of Wadem of providing desired financial benefits from the funds allocated by the Central government and urged the people to cooperate with the panchayat and other departments in taking up development works in the village.
Tendulkar informed the villagers that development works getting delayed due to the objections raised by the people.
