Four hurt in mishaps

CANACONA, MAY 10 A husband-wife duo from Agassaim was injured in a car accident at Gulem, Canacona, on Sunday evening.

A husband-wife duo from Agassaim was injured in a car accident at Gulem, Canacona, on Sunday evening.
According to Canacona police, the accident occurred when Shirish Lawande and his wife, who were proceeding towards Canacona, was negotiating a slope near Shree Bhumipurush Temple at Gulem.
The Maruti Alto Car (GA-01 S-4483) turned on one side and fell into a deep trench, injuring both the occupants.
Even though police could not provide injury details of the occupants, it is learnt through sources that Vandita Lawande suffered severe injuries, while her husband has suffered leg fractures. The couple was first shifted to Hospicio in Margao and was than taken to GMC Hospital .
According to sources, Lawande is the chief of South Goa Nehru Yuwa Kendra at Margao and the couple was traveling to Galgibaga to attend a function.
Vasco reporter adds: Two persons, including a five-year-old boy, had a narrow escape, after a speeding tempo overturned along the highway at Sancoale on Sunday.
According to Verna Police, the chairs-laden tempo (GA-02-V-6208) driver Antonio Lucas (35) and Mofensy Fernandes, both residents of Cortalim, escaped with minor injuries. The tempo was proceeding towards Vasco.
Both the victims were rushed to Cottage Hospital and were discharged after administering first aid.
