MAPUSA: Four persons were injured in an accident involving six vehicles at Peddem junction on national highway at Mapusa on Sunday afternoon.
According to information available, two trucks, a tanker and three two-wheelers were involved in the freak mishap.

All four injured persons were immediately shifted to the North District Hospital at Mapusa for treatment.
Since the widening of the highway, the locals are demanding construction of a flyover or traffic signals at this junction, which is turning out to be an accident prone zone.
Last month, rumblers which were erected at the junction were removed following complaint by a citizen, who stated that speed breakers cannot be erected on the main carriageway of national highways across the State.
The citizen Nikhil Desai from Ponda complained to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stating that speed breakers and speed bumps have been erected on national highways across the State much against the guidelines of the Supreme Court and other regulations by the Government of India.
Following this, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) wrote to the State government to remove all speed breakers put up on the national highways.
