PANJIM: After over a year, four members of the notorious Rs 10-note gang was arrested in the capital as one gang member attempted to rob a motorcyle, right in the city centre. The four members were arrested after a short chase near the Panjim Church, on Thursday.
Shashi Kumar and Santosh Prabhu, both aged 29 years, Jaycilan Krishnan (42) and Tamil Vanan (38), all hailing from Trichy, Tamil Nadu, were arrested while one of their gang member managed to give the police the slip.
“They were arrested barely half-an-hour after reaching Goa. One of them was trying to steal a parked bike near Municipal Garden, when some locals saw him and raised an alarm. They chased him and police were called,” Police Inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai told Herald.
On interrogation, the accused spilled the beans revealing the names of other gang members and their location.
The gang had reached Goa via Kolhapur after travelling from Ernakulam, Kerala and Dharwad, Karnataka. The PI said they have contacted their counterparts in the two adjoining states and Kerala to inquire about offences committed there and other related details.
The gang had last struck Panjim in February 2014 when they hoodwinked a car driver by robbing Rs 6,000 and other documents left in his car.
