PANJIM: Fr Santana Carvalho, parish priest of Our Lady of Succour Church, Socorro passed away at the Clergy Home, Porvorim, on Wednesday night.
Fr Carvalho was instrumental in promoting Goan traditional festivals along with Marius Fernandes (Goa’s well known Festikar promoter) under the banner of Socorro Social and Cultural Association. Fr Carvalho supported the first project of public involvement for the Socorro Spring Festival in 2010 along with Marius Fernandes.
They started a new concept of eco-friendly ‘fest’ in collaboration with local talents promoting the colourful ‘fests’ or festivals with the participation of local talents without sponsorship nor any VIPs involvement.
