PANJIM: Goa Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has filed a police complaint against unknown persons at the Cybercrime Cell of Goa police for impersonating him through a fake WhatsApp ID and demanding money from Goa MLA’s.
Speaking to reporters, Tawadkar said, “Two or three days back, I noticed that someone had created a fake ID in my name and was asking money from all the MLAs in the state through WhatsApp messages. Some MLAs called me up and showed me the messages which they had received.”
“The MLAs noticed that someone was trying to extort money and damaging my reputation. Today I have lodged a complaint at Canacona Police Station against an unknown person. I have also lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime of Goa Police. I urge the MLAs and my well wishers to take note of it,” he said.
