PANJIM/BICHOLIM: As the COVID-19 situation in Goa gets worse, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Goa State has decided to prepare a small audio-video presentation to educate the general public on how to manage the continuously increasing COVID-19 biowaste, using pulse oximeter and preparing hypochlorite solution besides looking after oneself during the pandemic.

A press note by IMA Goa President Dr Vinayak Buvaji states that the association has also announced a “free teleconsultation” programme for COVID positive people who are in home isolation and are asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic as permitted by the authorities.
Dr Buvaji will be the overall in-charge of the system and will do modification of the system as and when required for the larger interest and benefit.
“Those who are willing to have a free teleconsultation will have to send a WhatsApp message with their name, proper address and cell number to Rupesh on the mobile number 8767249828. Through him the message will be posted in the group of seven branches for internal circulation within the seven branches of IMA Goa State which covers up whole of Goa. Around 150 IMA doctors have consented to give voluntary telephonic consultations to these home isolated patients,” he said.
The team of doctors will be taking charge of respective areas in the State.
Dr Rajesh Naik, Dr Samuel, Dr Sudhir Shet, Dr Rajesh Javherani and Dr Pravin Bhat will be the experts for IMA Margao branch. Dr Anil Mehndiratta for IMA Mormugao, Dr Pradnya Kakodkar for IMA CQS, Dr Pranay Budkule for IMA Bicholim, Dr Sandip Naik (chest physician) for IMA Ponda. Dr Sandip Naik (senior surgeon), Dr Melita Rodrigues (pulmonary consultant) for IMA Bardez and Dr Vijay Naik for IMA Tiswadi branch.
“If IMA member in-charge of a family feels they need any further expert opinions than above doctors shall be contacted. In case of any obscurity in the course of action of teleconsultation it will be sorted out as early as possible. We wholeheartedly anticipate the support of general public and doctors in taking this task forward in the larger interest of the Goan community,” he added.
The IMA has also announced activating its paid quarantine facilities for doctors, their families and healthcare workers besides others.
