PANJIM: The Court of the District Magistrate, North Goa has issued a show cause notice to activist Manoj Parab over his repeated involvement in criminal activities.

The notice, issued last week is based on report of North Goa Police describing him as a notorious criminal.
“It appears from the report of SP North Goa dated January 25, 2021 that you have become a notorious criminal involved in offences of serious nature including attempt to murder in the North Goa District and you are habitually intimidating people by way of assault, threats, intimidation, etc thereby seriously disturbing normal public life in North Goa District,” reads the notice.
Parab has five Cognizable cases and one Chapter case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure, registered against him. The magistrate noted there are reasonable grounds to believe he is acting or about to act in manner prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.
The notice, incidentally, comes at a time when he provoked heated arguments at Azad Maidan where taxi operators were on a strike demanding scrapping of GoaMiles App-based cab service.
The founder of Revolutionary Goans, Parab had showed his support to the ongoing taxi strike but began to blame the tax operators for the crisis by pandering with the political parties. This led to a clash between him and the striking taxi operators after which police had to intervene and take action.
Parab is also accused of clashing with the police along with other locals while protesting against the now-scrapped IIT project at Shel-Melauli.
He is also facing proceedings for extradition before the North District Magistrate.
The activist took to twitter to send a sarcastic message to the government stating, “Wow. Fresh “Tadpar” Notice served to me yesterday. @DrPRamodPSawant never knew u (you) love me so much that u (you) keep on sending this Love Letters to me via Government authorities. Just a small message to you. Revolution Will Continue.”
