PANJIM: The Opposition Congress Party on Tuesday alleged that the BJP government was deriving political dividend from ongoing “Tika Utsav” when thousands of people had succumbed to the COVID-19 pandemic due to laxity of the government to combat it.

GPCC Spokesman Vithu Morajkar said that the BJP government at Centre and in the State is coming up with ideas to use COVID-19 pandemic to fulfil their political agenda.
“I don’t understand what is the essence of ‘Utsav’ in this pandemic and what forced the BJP to name the vaccination drive as ‘Tika Utsav’. At the time when people are suffering and succumbing to this virus, the government cannot name it as ‘Utsav’,” he said.
