VASCO: Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India and Rear Admiral Didier Maleterre, ALINDEN, were received by Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area (FOGA) at INS Hansa, Vasco on Friday. The Ambassador and Rear Admiral then proceeded to the French aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle by helicopter to witness Varuna 2019, the ongoing Indo-France joint naval exercise.
The joint operations by the Indian and French Navy will focus on under water, off the shore and in the air defence exercises.
This visit may likely strengthen the diplomatic and confidence building between two nations over maritime security domain. The aim is to improve maritime security, capacity and confidence building and to counter piracy and maritime terrorism.
