PONDA: Goa Dairy will hike milk rates by Rs 3 to Rs 4 with effect from March 12.
Goa Dairy Chairman Madhav Sahkari had said on Thursday that the milk prices may rise soon. This is the second hike within a year. The last hike was in September, 2016.
The cost of production, procurement and subsidies given to farmers led to the hike. He said in the current scenario, the organisation was losing Rs 1 on every litre.
Goa Dairy supplies around 85,000 litres to the local market, including 20,000 litres of buffalo milk procured from other states.
