VASCO: Sancoale residents have demanded stern action against the water tanker owners allegedly transporting sewage even as the Cortalim MLA Anton Vas on Wednesday sought a report from the concerned authorities within next eight days.

The officials of Water Resources Department (WRD), Directorate of Health Services, Goa Police and Department of Transport attended a joint meeting convened to discuss the issue after the Sancoale villagers caught red-handed a water tanker transporting sewage last week.

The villagers reiterated that they will not keep quiet till stringent action is taken against those involved in playing with the health of the villagers.

During the meeting, it was brought to the notice that the permission issued to the water tanker had expired in March last year and the tanker was operating illegally for over a year.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Wednesday stated that the water tanker carrying sewage incident has completely exposed the collapse of administration with total free hand to criminals and mafias.

State Congress president Amit Patkar said that revelation by Cortalim MLA Anton Vaz that the water tanker carrying sewage had no valid permit exposes that there is complete collapse of administration, and hence Cortalim MLA needs to introspect on his support to the incompetent BJP government.
