all sitting members of Usgao Ganjem Panchayat, in respect to a complaint filed by former sarpanch Tulshidas Gaad alleging misappropriation of funds to the tune of lakhs of rupees.
The complaint filed in September states that the panchayat, without following proper procedure, allotted house numbers to some illegal houses in comunidade land. The Panchayats director after conducting preliminary inquiry into allegations served the notices seeking a reply on December 14 December.
Gaad said there are around 539 houses illegally constructed in comunidade land and a resolution was passed by the panchayat on June 30, 2015 to allot house number to the houses. He alleged that some 70 houses have been made legal by completing all the formalities. He also mentioned that lakhs of rupees have been spent from panchayat funds on the plea that dangerous trees have been cut but there are no proper records maintained.
He has also alleged that funds exceeding the limit have been spent under the natural calamities head but no documentation of applicants has been maintained. Also, lakhs of rupees have been spent on electrical equipment, light decoration, garbage disposal, cutting of bushes, cleaning of gutters but no sufficient evidence; documents are on record in support of the works conducted by the panchayat.
The notices have been served on former sarpanchas Devanand Nanuskar, Ragunath B Gavde, Tushar Balve, William Mascarenhas and deputy sarpanch Harshada Gavde.
