Pernem: A group of students of Shree Kamleshwar Higher Secondary School, Korgao, on Monday held a garbage awareness drive in the village.
During the drive, the students visited homes in the village and explained to the people on the importance of segregating garbage.
They also explained the importance of keeping the surroundings clean and advised them to avoid rain water from accumulating in plastic buckets, bottles and tyres as it helped in the breeding of mosquitoes which were caused diseases like malaria and dengue.
The students explained to the people how can to treat wet and dry waste and advised them to handover waste to the garbage collection team of the panchayat rather then dumping it by the roadside.
