Fire mishaps have continued in Vasco for the second time in 24 hours, when a garment stall was gutted at the market, destroying garments worth Rs 10,000 on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, the incident occurred few minutes after Vasco fire brigade along with the electricity department and PWD had finished inspection of the dilapidated fire hydrant system in Municipal market, located in the neighbourhood of Sunday market.
A garment stall on an open space of municipal market, known as the ‘Sunday market’, caught fire when some children of the stall owner were playing with matchstick.
Before the fire brigade personnel could reach the site, the stall owner along with other people managed to bring the situation under control. Fire brigade personnel also rushed to the site and used the extinguisher to douse off the fire completely.
