PANJIM: Fed up with having to wait endlessly for the Regional Plan 2021 to be notified, the Goa Bachao Abhiyan has vowed to come out on the streets if the government delays the process leading to the notification any further.
The decision taken at a meeting of the core group of the GBA held recently pointed out how large scale permissions are being given without there being any final plan and policy in place.
“The chief minister had earlier announced in the Assembly that the RP would be kept open in June 2013 for public feedback. Parrikar announced that it would be open in July 2013. At the meeting the core group felt that 15 months have passed and yet the CM has not taken any proactive step on RP2021,” Sabina Martins GBA convenor said in a statement after the meeting.
The GBA has pointed to the government has issued a conversion sanad of twelve lakh square metres of land in Terekhol, besides granting permissions to other mega housing projects, without there being a regional plan in place.
Martins said that they have already finalized a set of guidelines which they will give the government and insist that they are implemented while the government goes about rectifying the regional plan.
They will also, through the use of Right to Information Act, find out the permissions granted since RP 2021 was notified to check their legality and further draw up a list of illegalities which they will submit to the government.
