PONDA: The Goa College of Engineering (GCE) has installed a CCTV camera within its campus to keep drugs off and prevent misuse of the premises by the students and others.
The installation of CCTV camera comes in the wake of the arrest of some boys for allegedly consuming drugs in the college hostel, by the anti-narcotic cell of the Goa police.
The college also has decided to install more cameras at various locations both in the college and the hostels. According to Principle Vinayak Shet, the college plans to install at least 100 CCTV cameras at a cost of around Rs 25 lakh. Besides, the college has also deployed many security guards within its campus.
