PANJIM: A joint inspection of the work being carried out at Vainguinim Beach was held, on Friday.
The officials from the Goa State Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) and the Taleigao Panchayat, the two bodies that called for the inspection, were present.
The two complainants, Vainguinim Valley Resident Association and the local fishermen led by Nagali resident Bhanu Shirodkar were also present and they conveyed their observations and objections to GCZMA and the Taleigao Panchayat. However, the hotel’s representatives were not present for the inspection.
The inspection took place from 11.45 am to 1 pm.
The complainants have now written to the two bodies asking them to provide them with a copy of the inspection reports. They have also demanded that a stop work order be issued as soon as possible.
It may be recalled that Goa Foundation Director Claude Alvares has also stated that the use of JCB machine on the beach is not permitted as per the law.
Revolutionary Goans (RG) members who were also present also called on the authorities concerned to look into the alleged contamination of water bodies in the area.
