PANJIM: The North District Administration has postponed hearing into externment proceedings against the founder of Revolutionary Goans Manoj Parab, to June 3.

The Deputy Collector, hearing the matter, adjourned to a new date, following request from Parab seeking time to produce relevant documents pertaining to the case against him.
With five cognizable cases and one Chapter Case under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure, registered against him, the activist is facing externment proceedings before the North District Administration.
Last week, the Court of the District Magistrate, North Goa issued him a show cause notice over his repeated involvement in criminal activities — report which was readied by North Goa Police describing him as a notorious criminal.
“It appears from the report of SP North Goa dated January 25, 2021 that you have become a notorious criminal involved in offences of serious nature including attempt to murder in the North Goa District and you are habitually intimidating people by way of assault, threats, intimidation, etc thereby seriously disturbing normal public life in North Goa District,” read the notice.
Parab is also accused of clashing with the police along with other locals while protesting against the now-scrapped IIT project at Shel-Melauli, on January 6.
Parab said he has eight cases against him some of which are quashed, acquitted a few and has appealed in other cases claiming “no involvement”.
He stated that a previous externment notice on him has already been quashed, and that the present one will also meet the same fate.
