Genuine Mayem mundkars, tenants to get sanads from August 15

Illegal structures in government and comunidade land will also be regularised; LED bulb distribution from Ganesh Chaturthi

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday said that genuine mundkars and tenants who have claimed rights over the Mayem evacuee land, would be given sanads from August 15 onwards.
He also assured that the recent ordinance to regularise unauthorised structures on private land will soon see amendments to accommodate government and comunidade land and also land in wildlife sanctuaries.
Following resentment from certain quarters, including ruling MLAs on the regularisation of unauthorised structures, the Chief Minister said the ordinance is not the final version. “There will be necessary amendments as and when required,” he said.
On the Mayem issue, Parsekar said that from August 15 genuine mundkars and tenants would be issued sanads. “It is government land and we have already received claims from tenants and mundkars seeking occupancy rights. The process will end soon,” he said.
The applications have been accepted under the Goa (Abolition of Proprietorship, Titles and Grants of Lands) Act 2014 and the Goa (Abolition of Proprietorship, Titles and Grants of Land) Rules 2015.
Parsekar also announced that distribution of three LED bulbs per family would start from the Ganesh festival onwards, which will be celebrated on September 5.
Speaking on the State Executive Meeting, Parsekar said the party has built a strong foundation and political forces joining hands against it will not harm the party in the 2017 polls.
Defence minister Manohar Parrikar was also present for the state executive meeting. “We have done lot of developmental work and welfare work for the people of Goa,” he stated.
