MARGAO: The Margao Block Congress committee has urged the local BJP mandal to first make a proper study of the facts and put the records in order, before trying to take undue credit for the works executed in the city.
President of the Margao Block Congress Committee, Gopal Naik said the works initiated by the local MLA Digambar Kamat at various places in Margao are now getting completed and new pipelines are being commissioned.
Referring to BJP’s claim to have solved the water problem facing Comba area, Gopal said that the tender for the replacement of old water distribution pipelines in many parts of Margao, including near Gomant Vidya Niketa and Comba area, was floated in 2011. “The work order was issued to carry out the work by PWD to Ms Sangam Constructions in December 2012, when the Congress government was in power under the leadership of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat,” he said.
He further said it was the long vision of the Margao MLA that a master balancing reservoir of 10,000 cubic meter capacity at Gogol and two ground level reservoirs of 4000 cubic meters were built at Monte Hill, which today cater to the uninterrupted water supply to the city and surrounding areas.
“The work of the ring road was also undertaken by the Margao MLA. Two phases of the project were completed almost three years ago. The last phase is stuck in legal tangle on account of rehabilitation of some residents. Efforts are on by the PWD to resolve the issues and complete the work at the earliest,” Gopal added.
