PANJIM: Goa Forward executive committee resolved to have an alliance with likeminded people, including Congress, for the 2017 Assembly elections. The party also decided to hold yatras from Polem to Patradevi to highlight key issues.
Addressing the media, Goa Forward spokesperson Prashant Naik said, “Goa Forward was prepared to share an alliance with the Congress and was repeatedly and consistently putting forward the demand for alliance. We will make alliance with all likeminded people.”
He said the party has decided to contest from 30 constituencies at present to oust the BJP-led government. “In the last nine months, we have realized that the principal opposition party is making matters difficult for unity of opposition forces. Goa Forward cannot afford to waste any further time and that is the reason why we are ready for alliance,” Naik said.
He said that nationalization of waterways and rivers, threats to land, environment and coconut tree, 80% job reservation for locals, regional plan and anti-Goan amendments to TCP Act, threats to liberal and multi-cultural Goa, drugs and law and order, lack of proper tourism policy to benefit Goan stakeholders would be the key issues highlighted during the yatra.
