MARGAO: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has questioned the meeting of Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias with the industrialists from Cuncolim Industrial Estate. The GFP has asked the Chief Minister whether he is aware of the meeting which the Cuncolim MLA attended.
Goa Forward Party vice president Durgadas Kamat, Cuncolim block vice president of Goa Forward Shashank Desai and others were present at the press conference.
Criticising the Cuncolim MLA Clafacio, Durgadas Kamat said, “The people of Cuncolim want to know whether the Chief Minister, who plans to visit the estate, knows that his MLA met the industrialists, who are prima facie – ‘the polluters’”.
Durgadas said the fact that the MLA after knowing that there is pollution in the estate meets the polluting industrialists some days later in a hotel in some other constituency raises major concerns and alarms.
“The MLA earlier raids the estate and industry along with the people and GSPCB over pollution and then at the Fatorda police station says that there is no pollution” Durgadas alleged.
“Was the meeting of Cuncolim MLA with the industrialists a move to make them aware about the inspection by Chief Minister,” Durgadas asked.
