PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai from Fatorda, along with GFP candidates Santosh Kumar Sawant and Deepak Kalangutkar, from Mayem and Mandrem respectively, pledged to remain loyal with Congress and united for the progress of Goa, in presence of Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi. He welcomed the promises made by Rahul Gandhi to the people of Goa.
Rahul Gandhi during his Goa visit on Friday, had a conversation with GFP candidates in a program held at International Centre, Dona Paula. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, leader of opposition Digambar Kamat, Goa In charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, GPCC President Girish Chodankar, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Vijai Sardesai welcomed the statement of Rahul Gandhi that he wants the people of Goa to become partners in the new and stable government of Congress-Goa Forward. “We have our Mantra of Development by people’s consent. Rahul Gandhi has also assured people to take them in confidence before taking any decision. I am optimistic that the alliance government will take Goa forward in the right direction,” said Sardesai.
Sardesai said that all will work united as a team to defeat BJP that has destroyed Goa by bringing three linear projects to benefit capitalist friends of BJP leaders. “Congress and my party GFP will not allow BJP to make Goa a Coal Hub. Now, Goans have realised how BJP marred the development of Goa and hence they will definitely defeat BJP,” said Sardesai.
Sardesai asserted that the focus of Congress-GFP alliance will be on creating employment and giving justice to the people of Goa. “Team Goa will work together to steer Goa, which has been derailed by BJP. We will work in the best interest of the people of Goa,” said Sardesai.
Sardesai along with his two GFP candidates took an oath that upon their victory in the Assembly elections he will continue to serve Goa and Goans as a candidate of GFP-Congress alliance for five years. They further stated that they will be loyal to Congress and won’t switch sides post elections for the term of five years. They pledged to work in the interest of Goa and to take Goa forward Party in different fields implementing democracy. GFP in alliance with Congress will work in the interest of Goans to serve them, united.
Rahul Gandhi briefed in his speech, “I am sure that Congress will win the election with full majority. Don’t waste your votes as the battle is between Congress and BJP. We need a new Goa, new Government who will ask Goans what they want.”
