GHRC directs DoE to release pension, GPF of employee

PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has recommended that the Directorate of Education (DoE) and the Deputy Director of Education, South Education Zone, Margao to release pension and General Provident Fund (GPF) amount in accordance with law to an employee, who “voluntarily retired”.

Under Section 18 (e) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, the Commission will send a copy of the inquiry report together with its recommendations to both the respondents for their comments including the action taken or proposed to be taken within a period of one-month or on or before October 29.

The three-member Commission comprising Chairman Justice U V Bakre and Members Judge Desmond D’Costa and Judge Pramod Kamat passed the order while hearing a complaint filed by Vidya Shetkar of Porvorim, seeking settlement of final withdrawal of her Provident Fund. 

Shetkar, who was working as assistant teacher at the Damodar English High School, Gudi-Paroda opted for voluntary retirement in June 2015 and submitted her application dated November 25, 2016 for final withdrawal of GPF, which was not settled and that her human rights had been violated.
