GMC to conduct diabetes prevalence survey

PANJIM: Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) will conduct an India-Diabetes (INDIAB) study for the State to determine the prevalence of diabetes in the State. 
The study is part of a country-wide drive taken up by ICMR in association with Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), Chennai. 
They are conducting the survey to find out the extent of diabetes in the country and its associated risk factors. 
In Goa, the study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board, Goa Medical College and Hospital  and is conducted in association with Directorate of Health Services. 
The team will be visiting homes of selected participants. 
The study will be completed over approximately six months. 
The GMC team comprises Dr Ankush Desai, Consultant Endocrinologist (Principal Investigator) and Dr Amit Dias, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine (Co-Investigator).
