PONDA: Goa Mining People`s Front (GMPF) has convened a public meeting at Gomantak Vidyalaya hall, Usgao, on 25 July at 4 pm.
GMPF President Puthi Gaonkar said that the meeting has been convened to discuss the strategies for forcing the government to resume mining.
He said that their agitation was almost successful that even Central government ministers gave them positive response for their memorandum on mining resumption and amendment to the section 2 of the Goa Daman and Diu Mining Concession Act, 1987.
However, he said, the lack of interest shown by the Goa Government forced them to think of intensifying their agitation.
