Goa Assembly Raises Alarm Over Illegal Taxi Operations at Dabolim Airport

Illegal taxi operations at Dabolim Airport were brought to the attention of the Goa Legislative Assembly during Zero Hour on Tuesday. MLA Sankalp Amonkar highlighted concerns over a prepaid taxi counter allegedly operated by a private agency. He stated that the arrangement has negatively affected local taxi operators who depend on airport passengers for their livelihood. According to the allegations, the operator reportedly collected payments from local taxi owners but later failed to honour agreed terms, instead deploying its own vehicles at the airport. The issue was further compounded by claims that drivers from outside Goa were operating without valid licences or police clearances. Questions were also raised about overcharging and non-compliance with approved fare structures, prompting demands for government intervention.
