PONDA: The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of Goa Dairy was adjourned to September 30 on ground that the administrator appointed by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS) has not taken charge, so far.
The AGM scheduled on Sunday commenced with a stormy discussion about the administrator not having taken charge of Goa Dairy and not present for the meeting.
The meeting was attended by 100 chairmen of the societies that supply milk to Goa Dairy; in all, 170 societies supply milk to Goa Dairy.
The general body members also strongly objected to the Managing Director of Goa Dairy, Dr Navso Sawnath, conducting meeting, since he has been indicted for irregularities in the premier milk producer.
Addressing the reporters after the AGM was adjourned, an AGM member Dattaprasad Savordekar said that the members demanded that administrator should first take charge of Goa Dairy, take action as per RCS order and then hold the AGM on September 30.
Savordekar said that the AGM could have been conducted by electing a chairman from among the member of societies; however, the majority members themselves opposed to the writing of minutes of meeting by MD Navso Sawanth.
Meanwhile, MD Sawanth clarified that although seven members of the Board of Directors have been disqualified, he has not yet been given any suspension order by the Administrator and so, as a regular employee of Goa Dairy, he was present for the AGM.
