PONDA: Goa Dairy farmers including former chairman Anup Priolkar and Sanjeev Cuncolienkar on Sunday expressed unhappiness over Administrative Committee’s decision to suddenly postpone the annual general body meeting to January 17.
Suspecting hidden agenda behind the postponement of general body meeting, Priolkar said the farmers had submitted a memorandum to Goa Dairy seeking answers to several queries with regards to Goa Dairy affairs and since Goa Dairy has no answers, the general body has been postponed.
He said there is no provision in Goa Dairy’s constitution to postpone general body meeting.
Criticizing the three members of the Administrative Committee, he said the committee failed to manage the Dairy’s affairs. Recently, the milk transporters suddenly went on strike and did not supply milk on some routes causing the Dairy a loss of Rs 14 lakh. However, the Administrative Committee, which boasted of taking action, failed to recover Rs 14 lakh.
He alleged that the Committee failed to make profit and claimed that milk sales have reduced.
Goa Dairy Administrative Committee chairman Durgesh Shirodkar said “The meeting was postponed because members did not receive the agenda ten days in advance due to COVID and further there was request from some members. The meeting would now be held on January 17. As farmer, I know the problem of farmers and I am very much interested in holding general body meeting so that various issues concerning Goa Dairy and the farmers are discussed.”
