Subhash Phal Dessai has said that the government is planning to install digital flow meters across the water supply network to curb non-revenue water and detect leakages.
The minister stated that the proposed digital meters will help authorities accurately monitor the flow of water and identify leakage points within the distribution system.

He noted that tenders had earlier been floated for the installation of 800 flow meters, but the project could not be implemented and the meters were not installed.
According to Phal Dessai, the new digital flow meters are expected to improve monitoring of the water supply network and significantly reduce losses caused by leakages and unaccounted water usage.
He added that the initiative could help the government increase water revenue by nearly 30 per cent, while also improving the efficiency of the supply system.
The proposed move is aimed at strengthening water management and ensuring better utilisation of resources across Goa.
