Addressing the media, Shirodkar stated that the increase in reservoir levels has ensured an adequate water supply, providing relief from concerns over shortages during the monsoon season.

The minister also announced that the government will launch a drive against illegal borewells beginning in August. Stating that he is personally opposed to the indiscriminate use of borewells, Shirodkar said strict action would be taken against unauthorised installations in accordance with the law.

To strengthen long-term water security, the WRD is also preparing a new water management initiative aimed at storing sufficient water in dams during the month of May. The proposed scheme seeks to improve reservoir management and maintain adequate reserves to meet water requirements during the peak summer months.

Shirodkar said the measures are intended to promote sustainable water management, curb illegal groundwater extraction and ensure a reliable water supply across the State throughout the year.
