PANJIM: To develop tourism and business prospects, the road transport corporations of Goa and Karnataka have entered into an agreement to run additional buses on nearly 87 new routes.
Accordingly, Kadamba Transport Corporation will operate services on 28 routes covering 22,148 service kms including Bengaluru, Mysore, Mandya, Belagavi, Hubballi, Savadatti, Murudeshwar, Gokarna, Karwar, Gokak, Bellari, Vijaypur, Hampi, Yallapur, Sirsi, Bhatkal, Haveri, Mudhol etc. Similarly, Karnataka corporations – KSRTC, NWKRC and NEKRTC – can operate services on 59 additional routes covering 20,526 service kms in Goa including Panjim and other towns such as Vasco, Mapusa, Margao, Calangute, Colva etc.
As per the agreement, corporations can operate additional services to various destinations in both the States on a daily basis as well as on special festive occasions such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Dashara, Diwali, Christmas, New Year and Goa Carnival as also during summer.
“Services can be operated on these routes once both the governments finalize the agreement,” a senior KTC official confirmed.
