PANJIM: Director General of Police T N Mohan has ordered an inquiry into allegations about corruption prevailing at the Police Training School at Valpoi. The DGP’s order comes in the wake of a delegation, of the recently launched ‘Generation Next for Goa’ led by Durgadas Kamat, pointed out massive corruption within the training school, with one senior officer’s spouse acting as an insurance agent.
The group’s helpline 7755902244 to assist victims of corruption in government offices received several calls complaining against corruption by police. Based on this the first complaint against the police force was filed.
After hearing the grievance at Police Head Quarters on Wednesday, the DGP ordered for an inquiry which will be headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police V Renganathan. He has been asked to submit a report in a month’s time.
“There are many complaints about government servants fearlessly demanding money to carry out public service because of which work is either delayed or it is never done. To curb this menace, we have launched this helpline and a website where complaints can be registered,” Kamat was quoted as saying during the help line’s launch.
Since the group has no powers to take action, they have tied up with Goa police to forward such complaints for action.
