Goa only State sans central university

Goa is the only State that does not have a central university as otherwise all other 39 States have a central university, Minister of State for HRD D Purandeswari disclosed in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
She said there is no proposal to set up any new central university during the remaining period of the 11th Plan.
The Centre, however, proposes to establish 14 national universities, aimed at achieving world class standards, in identified cities to augment qualified human resources in the country, she said.
The cities for these universities are still in the process of identification and as such Goa can also lobby to get one.
