PANJIM: The Goa Police on Tuesday held condolence meet to pay tribute to Director General of Police Pranab Nanda, who died of cardiac arrest in Delhi last Saturday.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant grieved the loss of a “responsible and responsive” police officer while giving him the credit to introduce All Terrain Vehicles to strengthen coast’s security as well as the ambitious helping 112 — an all in one emergency services — equivalent to United States’ 911.
Sawant, in his speech during the grieving moment, said that Nanda was very responsible and responsive who worked to ensure law and order in the State. “During his tenure as DGP he had strived to bring about changes in the interest of the State. The untimely demise of Nanda has caused great loss to the State,” he added.
Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Nanda stating he was a person with sharp intellect and had always stood for the cause of the security of the State.
Whereas Chief Secretary Parimal Rai called Nanda his dear friend, a man with outstanding qualities while the Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat called the IPS officer a good human being and good administrator.
