PANJIM: As preparations for the novenas of St. Francis Xavier (SFX) at Bom Jesus Basilica Church, Old Goa, commence from November 25, the Goa police have issued a comprehensive safety advisory for the devotees and the general public attending the religious event. Unlike previous years, the feast of St. Francis Xavier will be celebrated on Monday, December 4.
Given the expected substantial turnout of devotees and visitors, including those from neighbouring States, the police emphasise the importance of ensuring safety and security for all attendees and the world heritage monuments. The following advisory has been issued to the general public:

In the event that any visitor or devotee observes a suspicious object, person, or any unusual activity in the Church premises or its surroundings, they are urged to immediately report it to the Old Goa Police Station, the Police Outpost on the premises of Bom Jesus Basilica Church, or by dialing the emergency numbers 100 or 112.
On the feast day, a significant influx of tens of thousands of people is anticipated in Old Goa, particularly around the world heritage monuments, including Bom Jesus Basilica Church. Devotees will gather to pay homage to the sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier, attend Masses, and participate in religious ceremonies.
