Goa Police Makes Significant Drug Busts, Arrests Two Individuals in Possession of Narcotics

Goa police arrested two individuals on Saturday, each found in possession of significant quantities of narcotics. Anand Salgaonkar, a 40-year-old resident of Mandrem, and Mohammad Mustafa Halagiri, a 26-year-old native of Haveri, Karnataka, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the illegal possession of narcotics.

Anand Salgaonkar, arrested for suspected possession of narcotics and psychotropic substances, was caught red-handed with various illicit drugs. Police Inspector Theron D’Costa confirmed the arrest and stated that the seized narcotic substances amounted to an estimated value of 2 lakh 71 thousand.

Simultaneously, Mohammad Mustafa Halagiri was taken into custody for the illegal possession of suspected narcotics, specifically Ganja. Inspector Theron D’Costa informed that Halagiri was caught with a significant quantity of Ganja, weighing approximately 1.080 Kg, with an estimated street value of 1 lakh 8 thousand.

Both accused individuals, Salgaonkar and Halagiri, are scheduled to be presented before the magistrate. Police authorities intend to obtain custody remand for further investigation into the source and distribution network of the seized narcotics. The arrests mark a substantial effort by the Goa Police in curbing illicit drug trade within the region.
