Goa Police to crackdown on those not registering foreign guests within 24 hours

Asserts any person hosting a foreign guest for monetary consideration in the country, even for a few hours, should submit C-Forms; warns action against violators

PANJIM: Pointing out that several hotel business owners and others who provide accommodation to foreigners are not registering the details of foreign guests on Bureau of Immigration (BoI) in a time-bound manner, as mandated by law, the Goa police have warned of prosecuting the violators.

Police have instructed hotel owners, guest houses, individuals, service apartments, owners who let out or provide accommodation to foreigners etc to transmit the C-Forms to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or FRO within 24 hours after the arrival of foreigners in their premises as mandated under Section 16 of Foreigners (Amendment Order 2016).

The Law mandates the accommodators to register their details in the online C-Form system on the Bureau of Immigration (BoI) website https://boi.gov.in/.

“Failure to comply would invite prosecution under Section 16 of Foreigners (Amendment Order 2016) read with Section 14 of Foreigners Act 1946. To avoid legal action, register online for submission of C-forms on the portal at the earliest,” states a notice issued by Goa Police.

However, those house owners who have already obtained user id from FRRO Goa, need not register under the new feature.

Any person hosting a foreign guest for monetary consideration in the country, even for a few hours, should submit C-Forms.

The submission of C-Forms and maintenance of guest registers stems from the Foreigners Act 1946 and Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992.
